About Civil Department

The School of Civil Engineering of RGMCET is started in the year 2008 offers a B.Tech programme in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60. The department had grown chronologically in different dimensions like research, consultancy and accordingly the intake also increased to 120 in the year 2012 and 180 in the year 2014. A PG course M. Tech (Structural Engineering) had also sanctioned in year 2014 with an intake of 18.

The department is having eminent and dedicated faculty from the reputed institutes like IITs, etc. to cater to the needs of the students. The department has been imparting quality education to meet the technological, advancements and industrial requirements.  This has been made possible due to qualified and dedicated faculty, state of the art laboratories and infrastructure facilities. The department comprises of divisions of construction technology, structural engineering, environmental engineering, material testing, cement & concrete, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, water resources, surveying and GIS.

The department offers various testing and consultancy services in all the respective divisions using well equipped state of the art laboratories.

The main features of the undergraduate programme are a Civil Engineering Project in seventh semester and an extensive Practical Training on construction sites during the final semester that correlate their studies with actual constructions at various sites and strengthen their knowledge. Department has competent and devoted faculty.

Original research in Civil Engineering is encouraged and facilitated by research faculty. Many faculty members are pursuing doctoral research programme. The computer facilities comprise laboratories of 60+ computers and all are interconnected through fiber optic cable network.
